The festival takes place at the rustic location of Vojvodina’s only fully preserved and revitalized “Bajúsz” windmill, offering a rich program that lures everyone to the plains in early August. The festival, an interdisciplinary cultural event, boasts over 60 performers across five stages. Featuring artists from Hungary, Austria, Lithuania, the Czech Republic, and beyond, it offers a diverse musical lineup that’s sure to excite the youth. The festival is known for its sense of community, exemplified by the sincere hospitality of the locals. The program caters to all ages, with daytime activities and workshops for children and families, a poolside party vibe for young adults, and traditional flavors and homemade drink specialties that appeal to every generation.
Camping is free for festival-goers, but the region’s well-developed rural tourism also offers plenty of accommodation options. Visitors can discover the almost forgotten world of the nearby villages and traditional houses, providing a peaceful escape and a chance to reconnect with our roots.
Orom Village
Located in the Northern Banat, Orom is a small village with only 1,560 inhabitants, part of the Magyarkanizsa municipality. Its name is derived from the local dialect, referring to a plateau elevated from the Tisza valley. The village is predominantly Hungarian and is an important cultural hub, thanks to its tradition-preserving residents. You can visit the local Railway Museum, located in the former train station, which showcases local history, historical tools, railway-related documents, and photographs. A local initiative has also brought the Zengő Ethnographic House to life, providing a glimpse into the past with displays of traditional rooms and crafts. Another surprising landmark is the Messzelátó (Far-seer), a 39-meter tall brick tower that locals consider a cult site. It marks the highest point in the region and serves as a reference point, but it also provides a great place for walking or cycling and offers a place for quiet contemplation.
Tóthfalu Village
Located just 7.5 km away, Tóthfalu is the “capital” of rural tourism in the area, where local guides help visitors explore the sights and partake in cultural programs. One of the must-see attractions is the largest Turul bird statue in Vojvodina. But perhaps the most exciting visit is the Mini Délvidék (Mini Southern Backa) miniature park, where you can see the region’s most significant landmarks and monuments, all in one place. These include replicas of the Bács fortress, the Aracs desert church, and the inverted clock of Petrovaradin, giving visitors a glimpse into the fascinating heritage of the region. The friendly atmosphere and excellent hospitality of the locals ensure that your visit to the village is memorable.
It is in this peaceful, welcoming environment that you can fully appreciate the unique atmosphere of the Malom Festival.
